About this event

Make Martin Luther King Jr. Day a "Day On, Not a Day Off!" Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County are partnering to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. through service this year.

We invite you, your friends, and your family to join us on January 20, 2020 for a great day of giving back. Please sign up for ONE of the projects by clicking the green 'register' button. Every participant must be registered separately. If you are bringing a friend or family member, please have them complete their own registration (Parents/Guardians can complete registration for minor children). Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and long shorts/pants. You will receive a BRAND NEW MLK Day of Service t-shirt on MLK Day.

After serving, join us at 12:30pm in Currie Park for a MLK Day ceremony and picnic lunch. At the lunch, the Jewish Volunteer Center - PBC presents the Tikkun Olam award to two people in the community who promote tolerance, social justice, and the Jewish values of chesed (kindness) and tikkun olam (repair the world). To nominate someone for this honor, please send an email to jackie.cruz@jewishpalmbeach.org by January 10 with your name, the name of the person you’re nominating, and why he or she is deserving of the Tikkun Olam Award. The award winners will be recognized at the MLK Day ceremony at Currie Park.

For PBA Volunteers, check-in begins at 7:30am on Monday, January 20, in the Rubin Arena in the Greene Complex on PBA's main campus in West Palm Beach, FL. Service Kickoff begins at 8am, and a sack breakfast will be provided. Students must provide their own transportation to the following projects:

  • Currie Park - CROS Ministries Hygiene Kits
